Profile
Born
in Seoul, Korea, Heejung Kim has been producing art on the basis
of the idea came from personal imagination and eastern philosophies,
especially Buddhism. The major forms of her art works include artist
books and wrapped sculptures.
Kim obtained
an MA in Art Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
in 1991 and her MFA from SUNY at Stony Brook in 1994.
Kim had numerous
exhibitions including solo exhibitions at the Harold B. Lemmerman
Gallery in New Jersey City University, Stephen Gang Gallery in Manhattan,
and Kougeas Gallery in Boston, and group exhibitions at the Cleveland
State University(OH), Asian American Arts Centre(NYC), SUNY at Stony
Brook (NY), Heidi Cho Gallery (Chelsea, NYC), and the Noyes Museum
(NJ).
The reviews
on her art works include ¡°ARTnews¡±(1997), ¡°The New York Times¡±
(NJ section, 2005), ¡°Artists¡¯ Books Reviews¡±(2006), and ¡°Ampersand¡±(2007).
Kim has been
teaching studio arts at the New Jersey City University as an adjunct
professor since 2000.
